Apple Tree

(You can say this poem or sing it to the tune of "This Old Man.")

Way up high in the tree,
One red apple smiled down at me,

So I shook that tree as hard as I could.
Down came an apple,
Mmm! Mmm! Good!

Two yellow pears…
Three purple plums…
4 orange peaches…
5 green limes…

(Point up.)
(Hold up 1 finger. Look down and smile.)
(Pretend to shake a tree.)

(Rub tummy.)

Activities: Adapt the words to other types of fruit that grow in trees.

Make a visual similar to the one shown. Attach string to the back of the fruit so you can pull it up in the tree or let it "fall down."

Give each child a cutout of a tree. Let them draw fruit or cut out fruit and glue it to the tree. Put their pictures together to make a class book.)
